Fundamentals Of Heat And Mass Transfer

B. K. VENKANNA is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Basaveshwar Engineering College, Baglkot, Karnataka. He obtained his B.E. (Mechanical) degree from K.U.D., Karnataka in 1984 and M.E. (Thermal Sciences) from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1987. He is in teaching profession since 1984. He is actively engaged in research work in thermal sciences (I.C. engines, alternative fuels, combustion, heat transfer and solar energy) and has published/presented 13 research papers in various national/international journals/conferences. He has guided over 40 sponsored projects and some of them have been adjudged superlative works.

"This comprehensive text on the basics of heat and mass transfer provides a well-balanced treatment of theory and mathematical and empirical methods used for solving a variety of engineering problems. The book helps students develop an intuitive and practical under-standing of the processes by emphasizing the underlying physical phenomena involved.

Focusing on the requirement to clearly explain the essential fundamentals and impart the art of problem-solving, the text is written to meet the needs of undergraduate students in mechanical engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, auto-mobile engineering, aeronautical engineering, chemical engineering, and biotechnology.

Key Features :

Covers the theoretical material systematically and in a step-by-step approach.

Focuses on problem-solving techniques.

Provides an excellent selection of more than 300 graded solved examples to foster understanding of the theory.

Gives over 100 chapter-end problems, useful for self-assessment.

Summarizes the important equations at the end of each chapter."
