A pragmatic approach to turbulence : a short course in fluid mechanics

LEIF N. PERSEN is Professor Emeritus, Department of Energy and Process Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. Earlier, he was the Head of the Institutt for Mekanikk of the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) of Trondheim from 1957 and, in 1960, he became full-time Professor at the same institute, a position he held until 1989. In 1960, he spent his second year as Visiting Professor at Brown University (USA). From 1964–69, he was a Visiting Scientist at the Wright–Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. During 1973–74, he was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Rhode Island (USA), having been awarded a grant by the national science foundation (NSF). During 1985–90, he was appointed to the W.A. “Monty” Moncrief Centennial Chair in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He was also the Norwegian representative to AGARD (Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development) for 20 years (1966–1986).

Engineering mathematics : volume i

Banaphool is the pen name of the Bengali author, playwright and poet, Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay. Born in Manihari (or Purnia), Bihar, Mukhopadhyay began writing as a teenager and adopted the his pen name Banaphool (wild-flower in Bengali) to hide his work from his tutors. He is most noted for his short vignettes, often just one page long, but his body of work spanned sixty five years and included "thousands of poems, 586 short stories, 60 novels, 5 dramas, a number of one-act plays, an autobiography, and numerous essays. In addition to his literary works, Mukhopadhyay was also a physician, and practised medicine throughout his life. He died in 1979 and, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, India issued a postage stamp featuring his image.
